CNAN 2025

October 13, 2025

In recognition of #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we’re celebrating with a recap of last month’s 7th Biennial Conference on Native American Nutrition! We first want to express gratitude to our hosts, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux community, where this conference has taken place since its inception.

The event itself was once again a remarkable experience. We heard from expert speakers from across the Americas and Pacific Islands, who shared their insights on indigenous food systems, community/tribal health, and food sovereignty. From sessions on seed saving and rematriation, to stories of nutrition program challenges and successes, and of course the highly regarded Chef’s Expo, this conference is both extraordinarily unique and impossible to encapsulate in words.

Thank you to all the supporters and attendees for making this an occasion to remember. We look forward to seeing this conference continue and grow in years to come. The impact it has had over the years is quite immeasurable. And one final thank you goes out to Dr. Mindy Kurzer, without whom this event would not be what it is.
