Upon completion of this program, students will have earned a Verification Statement, and will be eligible to apply to a variety of programs offering further education and supervised practice in Nutrition and Dietetics. The DPD is primarily an undergraduate program consisting of 3XXX and 4XXX level coursework.

Dietetic Internship (DI)

The University of Minnesota Dietetic Internship is a 9-month (Sept-May) program that offers non-credit, non-degree, supervised practice experiences to meet eligibility requirements for program graduates to take the CDR registration examination for dietitian nutritionists.

Master of Professional Studies (MPS)

The Dietetics Master of Professional Studies (MPS) focuses on coursework combining advanced knowledge of nutrition, dietetics, and practice. This degree was developed for individuals pursuing a career in dietetics and plan to complete a Dietetic Internship and sit for the Entry-level Registration Examination for Dietitians, colloquially referred to as the RDN Exam.

MPS + DI

The MPS+DI option provides the opportunity to complete the UMN-FScN Dietetics Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in the first year, followed by the DI program in the second year. This MPS degree was developed specifically for those pursuing a career in dietetics, and the DI prepares them to take the RDN Exam. The benefit of this option is that students will have a seat reserved for them in the UMN DI program year following successful completion of the MPS program.

Prospective applicants must submit two separate applications, one to the UMN-FScN MPS program, and one to the UMN DI (through DICAS) in order to be accepted into this option.
