Levi Teigen

Levi Teigen, PhD, RD is an Assistant Professor in Clinical Nutrition in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota. He is also a faculty member of the University of Minnesota Microbiota Therapeutics Program and an adjunct faculty member with the Department of Medicine-Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Teigen has practiced as a clinical dietitian for 12 years and is currently serving as the Twin-Cities Regional Representative for the Minnesota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. He earned his PhD in Nutrition under Dr. Carrie Earthman researching use of clinically available technologies for malnutrition assessment in clinical settings. He also completed 4 years of postdoctoral training under Dr. Alexander Khoruts in gut microbiome and microbiome transplant therapy research. The Teigen lab continues to focus on both: 1) use of body composition technologies to improve nutrition assessment and 2) the ability of diet therapy to modulate health of the gut microbiota.
