June is National Dairy Month so we’re celebrating all of FScN’s contributions toward making MN the go-to place for all things dairy!
Here are just a few of the ways we do dairy best:
- Our Meat and Dairy Salesroom is regularly featured by MN news outlets as a must-visit spot for locally made cheese, ice cream, meat, honey, organic produce, and more!
- The FScN Joseph J. Warthesen Food Processing Center (aka the ‘pilot plant’) has helped numerous dairy startups flourish and thrive over the years as they build their product lines and brands. Read about how they helped the CannonBelles Cheese company increase their production capacity at a pivotal transition point during their growth
- The cheeses made by our staff (Ray Miller and Mitchell Maher) in the pilot plant have accumulated 15 awards since 2008 at the MN State Fair's Annual Upper Midwest Dairy Association (UMDIA) Competition.
- UMN helped make St Paul, MN the ‘Blue Cheese Capital of the World’ since the mid-20th century. And we are particularly noted for our ‘Minnesota Blue’ cheese and exclusive ‘NuWorld’ (a white blue cheese!), both of which can be found in the Salesroom. - FScN houses the Midwest Dairy Foods Research Center, a leader in the advancement of dairy food technology and development
