Legislative Funding Advocacy

Sign the FScN Community Letter

A message from Department Head Job Ubbink:

I wanted to take this time to inform you of the University’s ongoing efforts to secure funding through the Higher Education Asset Preservation and Replacement (HEAPR) program during the current legislative session. As the University has listed our department as one of its top investment priorities, the FScN building, including the pilot plant, is likely to be one of primary beneficiaries of HEAPR funding allocated to UMN this year. You can learn more about the reasons for this HEAPR investment in this short video and you can read our fact sheet on how this bonding investment would impact us, the people and communities of Minnesota, and the Minnesota-based food industry. You can also view Dr. Kathleen Hill Gallant's powerful testimony on the importance of capital investment for FScN online.

Your advocacy for our HEAPR request is essential. Please add your name as a signatory to our FScN Community Letter that will be sent to the MN House and Senate bonding committees, or write your own letter to your state representatives. This potential capital investment will transform our department and enable us to meet the challenges of the future and fulfill our mission for students, constituents and stakeholders.

Warm regards,

Dr. Johan B. Ubbink

Head, Department of Food Science and Nutrition
