"Dr. Belal background in Food Biotechnology and has 12 years of experience that was gained after working at Department of Food Science, Faculty of Food Science & Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Senior Lecturer. His research expertise and interest are in line with the future challenges for sustainable food production and safety. He has a broad range of research that covered food process, plant-based proteins, designed foods, and health promoting functional foods. His previous research has focused on bioactive compounds generated during fermentation processes and their biological functions. Currently, he is looking on the effect of different food processes on the techno-functionality of food products alongside the health benefits and consumer acceptability. Dr. Belal research target is to improve the quality of the processed foods and meet the demand of the modern consumers of Gen Z. Dr. Belal was the principal investigator of 2 projects and co-researcher of 6 projects. He supervised and co-supervised a dozen of graduate and undergraduate students.
Dr. Belal skills including research experience and management are in good match with the project objectives in terms of:
a) enough experience to accomplish independent research at advanced level;
b) strong background in microbiology and biotechnology applied;
c) previous experience in the food waste management;
d) a good track of teamwork and successful international collaborations;"
