Climate Literacy Day

November 13, 2024

One of FScN's primary research and educational goals is to address climate issues in the context of food and nutrition. As the planet faces increasing climate instability, it is our duty to investigate methods of maintaining a reliable global food supply, integrating sustainable food sources, and teaching the future generations of food and nutrition experts about the challenges we face.

FScN has a number of ongoing initiatives related to food sustainability:

  1. The Plant Protein Innovation Center researches how to incorporate and optimize sustainable protein ingredients into our food products and systems.
  2. Our faculty participate in a range of projects with the Forever Green Initiative, which aims to develop and improve winter-hardy annual and perennial crops that protect soil and water while driving new economic opportunities for growers, industry, and communities across Minnesota.
  3. We recently gained a new faculty member in Bioconversion & Upcycling of Food Byproducts. Meet Dr. Prasanth Pillai and learn about his research

We hope you'll take part in Climate Literacy Day. See the event page to take part in activities and sessions across campus!
