Dr. Theodore Labuza, contributor to the paper “Rapid Detection of Acetamiprid in Foods using Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS)”, won a Tanner Award for being the most-cited paper published in the Journal of Food Science: Toxicology and Chemical Food Safety section in 2014. As of May 2017, the paper has 17 citations since publication in the journal, according to Web of Science. Each year, the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) looks back three years to find the most-cited article for each journal or journal section of the organization's scientific journals. The complete list of winners is available on the IFT website.
The award name acknowledges Fred Wilber Tanner (1888 – 1957), the first editor of the IFT founding journal - Food Research.
Labuza and other winners will be recognized at the annual IFT Reviewers' Reception as part of the IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo, June 25-28 in Las Vegas.
