The ultimate goal of the Food Safety Microbiology Laboratory is to advance the understanding and control of food-borne pathogens. We are dedicated to achieve this goal by providing a stimulating and rewarding scientific training in food microbiology. Our research interests are mainly focused to developing novel pre-harvest strategies to control pathogenic bacteria transmitted by food, studying pathogen distribution in the environment, and characterizing bacterial stress responses and their relevance for survival in foods and the environment.
