About the Nutrition Initiative

The Nutrition Initiative at the University of Minnesota is an interdisciplinary and collaborative initiative focusing the resources of the University in the areas of nutrition and health.  The goals of the initiative are to enhance collaboration that will:

  • Assist the development of new knowledge to better define the role of nutrition in human health
  • Build on the advances in plant, animal and human genomics to develop plant and animal products and diets for chronic disease prevention and treatment
  • Enhance education in nutrition for current students, health care professionals and citizens
  • Increase understanding of non-traditional medicine and food as medicine
  • Help transform the knowledge learned in nutrition research to a positive health impact on the population.

The website is organized by user.  Faculty, students, and the public will find information and links to academic programs and courses, current faculty research and University research centers, and outreach programs.
