Duties/Responsibilities:
- Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of experiments to determine the mechanism of the stability of protein molecules, particularly protein denaturation and aggregation, in food matrices
- Conduct the review of literature in the field in which the research is being done.
- Design the overall research plans to meet the project objectives.
- Develop methods, techniques, instrumentation, and devices needed to carry out the research project. .
- Analyze and evaluate research results.
- Confer with superiors on research results.
- Control and evaluate expenditure of research funds with PI
- Participate in preparation of progress reports and presentation of results for the USDA and other funding agencies
- Write comprehensive final report on completion of the project.
- Co-author manuscripts for publication and/or presentation at professional meetings.
- Draft proposals to funding agencies to procure funds for new projects
Required Qualifications:
- Ph. D. in Food Science,biochemistry, physical chemistry of food materials or related field.
- Experience with characterization of proteins, such as Gel Electrophoresis, FTIR and DSC.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language
Preferred Qualifications/ Skills:
- Experience in protein chemistry, especially dairy proteins and soy proteins.
- Skills in physical chemistry.
- Knowledge/experience in the characterization of structure and texture of foods.
