Satya received her PhD in Human Nutrition and Foods from Virginia Tech and completed her dietetic internship from Georgia State University; most recently she completed her MBA from Augsburg College. Satya completed two postdoctoral fellowships at Brandies University and Pennsylvania State University in the areas of cardiovascular disease and lipid metabolism. Prior to joining General Mills, Satya was an Associate Professor at Georgia State University in the Department of Nutrition, a clinical dietitian and a Senior Manager in Global R&D at Novartis Medical Nutrition.

Satya has numerous scientific publications and presentations and is a member of numerous professional organizations, such as American Society for Nutrition, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, AACC International, serving on editorial boards, as a peer-reviewer of manuscripts, symposium and abstract selection committees.
